Wedding Photography Mistake #9 - Forgetting About the Photographers
It’s the wedding photographer’s worst nightmare: Young Cousin Joey is sharing a cigar outside with Grandpa Joseph (his namesake) in a timeless, classic moment that the photographer just knows is going to be a great photo… while inside, the bride and groom are cutting the cake.
Oh no’s!
A great wedding photographer should stick close by when an important moment is looming–but we can’t be everywhere at once. Bathroom breaks happen, venues serve meals for event staff in separate rooms (and in some cases separate buildings), and multiple important moments can happen at once.
Be aware!
Tip: It can’t be said enough, share your schedule with your photographer.
But should a moment arrive, and your photographer is MIA, don’t be afraid to ask your emcee, wedding coordinator, or maître d’ to hold the horses until the photographer is available to take the shot. After all, you’re in charge of the event… not your vendors.
We don’t like to hold things up, but we’d much rather feel silly for being in the bathroom than miss that photo of you rubbing cake in the groom’s face.
Bonus Tip: If it’s in your budget, invest in a second photographer.
With both working as a team, you’re almost guaranteed to have someone available to shoot–even if things happen in separate places at the same time.
