Bridal Party with Rain BootsWedding Photography Mistake #10 – Dismissing the Weather

You’ve planned for every contingency, you have everything in order, your dress is beautiful, your hair and makeup are out of this world, your groom arrives looking dapper and handsome… and the universe decides it doesn’t want to cooperate, drenching your wedding party in the worst weather since almanacs were invented.

What can you possibly do?

Tip: Obviously, check the weather report. If there’s even a remote possibility of rain, think about what you’ll need to cope.

Some of the best wedding shots we’ve ever taken were during torrential downpours, record-setting blizzards, and other hideous weather situations.

The key to a great shot in bad climate? Attitude.

Don’t think of the weather as an impediment… make it part of your day! Matching rain-boots, parasols or cinematic umbrellas, arm-length gloves and fur coats… the opportunities are endless.

We’ve even seen bride’s maids with custom-knitted leg warmers (sexy, and functional), and a groom doing snow-angels on top of a Manhattan rooftop! Attitude is key.
